Foods for Great Skin - July 7th, 2009

I’ve heard that pregnant women have the most gorgeous skin, so shiny and smooth.  Have you ever noticed that?  This is because a lot of pregnant women are taking prenatal vitamins—and the vitamins give them great skin.  This brings up an interesting point.  By far the best thing you can do for your skin is to simply eat a diet rich in many vitamins and minerals.  That way you can get all the nutrients your skin needs through the food you eat.

Of course, there are skin conditions that require more stringent treatment, such as medicated cleansers or creams.  These conditions can be quite serious, whether painful or simply unsightly, and should not be ignored.  If you’re having skin problems, it is best to see a dermatologist who can help you figure out the best way to help your skin.

Don’t underestimate, however, the power of the food you’re eating.  Take a look at your diet and ask yourself if you’re giving yourself all the nutrients you really need.  Is your skin suffering because of your limited dietary preferences?  Vitamin A, especially, is good for your skin.  You can get it from milk, eggs, carrots, mangoes, fish, and other foods.
