Acne & Self Esteem - September 17th, 2009

For many mothers of teenagers, acne isn’t so much a concern you for as it is for your kids.  The teenage years are hard enough without having to deal with a serious acne problems.  While there are a lot of products that can help with a serious acne problems, sometimes it can be persistent and difficult to change.  What can you do as a parent to help your kids out?

First of all, parents can be emotionally supportive to their kids.  This is different than offering financial support (such as putting forward the cash to pay for acne products).  I’m talking about letting your kids know that you love them and are there for them despite their skin condition.  Kids can be cruel to each other, but more cruelty doesn’t need to come from parents.  Emotional support can also come in the form of financial support.  You can let your kids know that you care about them and their condition and that you want to help them find a product that will help them.  Again, this is different from treating the kids like their acne is embarrassing to you and you just need to get rid of it.  This isn’t being supportive.

Parents sometimes forget just how much they can help their kids out.  The firm love of a parent can help a teenager survive the trials of dealing with acne.
